The brief was to turn an industrial building into the perfect venue to host a New Year's Eve wedding and evening celebrations. This marquee had everything and transformed the space into a magical venue for the guests to relax, drink and dance their way into the new year.
The decision to combine both the industrial building and the marquee was an excellent design choice, especially considering the possibility of unfavourable weather at this time of year. The building's structure provided extra protection from the harsh weather, allowing the plans to proceed even in the worst of conditions. The marquee frame served as the structure for the linings and lighting to be hung from and dress the space as the client requested.
Services such as the bar and catering could also use the additional space in the building to store their equipment and stock, reducing the need for further marquees which would be necessary for most of the weddings and customers we cater to.
Guests were greeted by a unique Narnia-inspired trail and themed décor, which added to the mystery of what lay ahead. A canopy of fairy lights and Christmas trees led the guests towards a wardrobe door, which awaited them at the end of the walkway.
Upon stepping through the wardrobe and the ivory curtain, the space opened up to a Blackout LED Star light backdrop to emulate the night sky. This Reception area allowed space for some casual seating and welcome drinks. An ideal space for guests to greet each other before moving through to the Ceremony Marquee.
This intimate ceremonial area was traditionally lined with Ivory pleated linings and backlit with cool white fairy lights. Champagne carpet and lime-washed chivari chairs added to the neutral simplicity where vows were said and rings exchanged.
The dining and entertainment area was beautifully decorated for a New Year's Eve wedding. The seating area had ivory pleated linings along the roof and walls, with fairy lights and rustic oak beams, providing lighting and a central focal point down the marquee. Towards the end of the marquee, there was a change in atmosphere, where the focus was on dancing into the early hours of the New Year.
A white LED dance floor and custom LED up-lighters transformed the traditional dining experience into a place where you could let your hair down and dance. The clear roofs above were used to reflect the coloured lighting around the dance area, washing it in a variety of colours.
This New Year's Eve wedding is a perfect example of how even an unconventional venue can be transformed into a romantic setting for celebrating with loved ones as well as welcoming the New Year. From the layout to the lighting and theme, every detail was carefully considered to create an unforgettable celebration for everyone involved.
If you're considering an unconventional venue for your New Year's Eve wedding, I hope this post serves as an inspiration. With creativity and imagination, any space can be transformed into the perfect setting for your wedding celebration.
